Singles365 would like to announce some exciting improvements to your member profile page to make your site experience all the more enjoyable! Here’s what we’ve added:

Member Introduction

A short overview of the member is now presented at the top of the page, detailing their name, age, location, what they’re looking for, their distance from you and whether they’re online or not.

Photo Gallery

Conveniently browse member photos from within a profile with the all new Member Photo Gallery. Move forward and back through member’s photos and zoom when you want to see more detail.

Status Commenting & Instant Requests

When a member updates their status with something interesting you can now send a comment. Another new feature is sending instant requests for more details, such as more photos or further profile text.

Come Online & Message Preview

The member you are viewing isn’t online? You can now send a request to come online and chat. Message preview is yet another new addition – see a preview of the last message you have received from a member straight from your profile page.

Similar or Random Members

View similar members to the profile you are viewing within the profile page, providing a quick and easy way to browse through members. Can’t find the right person? Try the new random member button that automatically generates another member from the database that may be of interest.

More Information + Clearer Layout

We’ve added even more info about the member into the profile page. Diaries, photos and videos are all available and visible. There are larger, more prominent action buttons and even with all the information we’ve added, a cleaner, clearer layout has been implemented.

Popular Actions + Inline Messaging

We’ve moved popular actions such as ‘Send a Message’, ‘Send a Wink’ and ‘Add To Favourites’ into more prominent, clearer locations. A prompt box also highlights information that may be useful for the member. Does the member live nearby? Have they viewed the profile several times? Once actions have been performed, Inline messaging then takes this position. From here, you can have an in-depth conversation with someone you like and send or reply to messages right from this box.

We hope you enjoy your new profile page!

The Singles365 Team!

Where’s your heart/head at this Valentine’s day? Are you a hopeless romantic or an impulsive serial romancer?
Are you looking for Love or Lust?

The Campaign for Love…

You got drenched on your way to work this morning, you’re running late, your boss is frowning, yet you can’t stop smiling. You sing when you’re in the shower in the morning, your heart skips a beat every time your phone rings and you dream all day and night. This is what could happen to you if you take a chance on love this Valentine’s Day! True love doesn’t have to be something that died out hundreds of years ago. Think flirty emails, cheeky IMs, and the beautiful moment of anticipation before you first kiss someone new.

This Valentine’s Day millions of people will spring out of bed, check their emails and walk out of their door ready to fall in love!

The Campaign for Lust

Red roses, boxes of chocolates and clichéd cards don’t appeal? Then it’s time to scrap the dodgy Italian restaurant, awkward small talk with a blind date, and remember that we can reinvent Valentine’s Day for the 21st century. Valentine’s Day 2011 should be about all of the things it was originally intended for: naughtiness, desire and lust, lust, lust. And what better way to spend a Monday than in bed, clothes strewn over the floor, kissing….

Join the campaign for lust this Valentine’s Day and make your heart beat faster!

Love or Lust?

The arrival of Christmas often tends to bring about those painstakingly logistical questions of how exactly the day is going to be played out; which relative takes priority to host the event, do I need to make my signature Christmas potato salad, can I get away with not getting that person a present as they’re not coming, should I bring Port after last year’s episode, etc etc. Let’s face it, it’s a whole phase of strategic planning that takes careful consideration. One thing that tends to come up often is the question of bringing along your new date…

What could go wrong?!

This is not a rhetorical question, but a very valid point worth asking…many things could in fact go a rye, the best laid plans and all that! Firstly I’m assuming this won’t be on the behalf of your date. If you have chosen a worthy victim to subject to your family Christmas, I am sure you have done so in good taste! You’ve got to watch out for the embarrassing aunt, or your mother poised with the baby photos handing them around sadistically over the turkey, much to the amusement of the rest of the table…

Go on…be brave!

Ok so you have got the cons and whilst it took long and hard to think of any pros…I think I might just have it! Introducing your new date to a family Christmas is in a way sharing who you are and if they stick around afterwards then surely only good things can come of it! Go on be brave and invite your date over at Christmas! Or even better try to wing an invite to their family Christmas event : )

Dating Personal(s): An advertisement or message in the personal column of a newspaper.

The world before the internet seems like a dark and distant memory to many – something we’d associate to a primal and unsophisticated time of no electricity, no television, and no radio – as opposed to the mid 1990s. So how has its existence transformed the dating personal? The internet has been a catalyst in which the dating personal – lonely hearts ad – however you want to coin it – has propelled and expanded into a completely unrestricted sphere. It has given the dating personal the benefit of anonymity, opportunism, and coverage that new media inevitably lends. But how did the dating personal evolve? Where did it come from and how has it been able to develop and expand into one of the most popular pastimes on the internet? 1915 saw the founding of the first dating personals magazine – wholly dedicated to the advertising of dating personals. 6 years later the founder of the magazine was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for enabling the commission of unnatural acts – oh how we have evolved! However, the first dating personal had been documented centuries before this in 1690 and by the beginning of the eighteenth century – the matrimonial advertising method was booming! So it would seem the tradition of the dating personal was born well before that of the internet! Over the years, what once seemed to be a ‘taboo’ has become all the more socially acceptable – most of us will be familiar with the more contemporary language of the newspaper dating personal – SWM seeks SWF for LTR – single white male seeks single white female for long term relationship. Traditionally the abbreviation of the dating personal came about due to having to pay for the print space, now many of these are common place to the online dating personal world and the transition from print to screen seems to have been fully embraced. If one thing stands out most about transition the dating personal – it is volume and choice. No longer are we restricted to 1 or 2 pages a week at the back of a newspaper – we have the ability to search through hundreds, thousands and millions of dating personals – with a common theme that has been persistent throughout history – there are all kinds of people, looking for all kinds of different things, from all different walks of life are out there waiting for you to read their online dating personal.

So that time of year has arrived – inevitably early again I’m sure you’ll all agree! As the Christmas lights are being turned on in your local high streets, the TV ads are rolling in displaying all of your festive consumer needs and the family phone calls are beginning to ring with the familiar conundrum of whose turn is it to host this year… I got into thinking about dating at Christmas – not about what to do as the possibilities are obvious and endless…shopping, ice skating, Christmas light displays, Christmas markets, Christmas Parties… It is without a doubt the best time to date as the possibilities are exciting and endless…It was more of what should one wear to such events? Can ear muffs ever be appealing to that potential other half and really how formal is formal at an office party – that reoccurring nightmare of turning up over or under-dressed – or having to don hideous fancy dress reindeer ears. I think firstly you have to assess where your Christmas date will be taking place – if it’s outdoors it would be rather foolish not to wrap up and potentially be unable to partake in a second date as you’re laid up in bed with a horrible winter cold – in this case, ear muffs just might be considered acceptable! Secondly I think you need to assess the formality of the event. If you have been invited to your dates Christmas party the venue should give the level of formality away – do your research – ask where the venue is and use the trusty old internet to investigate! The venue will no doubt reveal what the atmosphere and dress code is likely to be like. Thirdly; and probably most simply; wherever and whoever your Christmas dates – be comfortable. Dress how you like, reflect yourself – the more comfortable you feel on the inside – no doubt the more attractive you will look on the out!

We thought it was about time we had a closer look at what’s been going on in the London dating scene! Dating in London is hugely popular not only with London singles, but with fun singles from all around the UK who want to impress their date with the atmosphere and variety dating in London has to offer. As our members all know, Singles365 is all about getting out there, having fun and making it happen! Dating in London absolutely feeds off this ethos – with endless activities, the quirky, the cultural, the artistic – there is something for everyone! With this in mind I asked the Singles365 Team where their favourite dates in London were…

London Dating – Soho

‘Soho is a really cool and quirky place to take your date in London. Tapas at the Barrafina to start! It is a sleek and romantic restaurant that serves exceptional food – you’ll be spoiled for choice! Then for afters a 2 minute walk down the road to Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Even if Jazz isn’t your thing…it’s seriously impressive either way! The seating is intimate and each table is served and candle lit. The atmosphere; the music, the great selection of cocktails and the dim lighting all adds to the romance!’

London Dating – South Bank

‘Dating in London…has to be the London Rib Voyage! You board by the London Eye Millennium Pier and head east along the Thames towards Canary Wharf. It’s a mixture of racing at 400 horse power…and sightseeing for where there are speed restrictions…a definite way to pump up a bit of adrenaline between you and that special person on your London date! The best bit about it has to be that the tour guides are actual comedians. Boat trip and comedy in one…stroke of genius! Best London date I have taken anyone on!’

That modern conundrum that many have tried to tackle, conceptualize and understand – that has, perhaps, in part been quite a taboo subject until recent years – first dates – who should foot the bill?

Now, the well known history of dating traditionalizes the male counterpart as a chivalrous figure – there to romance his lady friend and certainly to foot the bill. In all honesty would Mr Darcy be so seductively fancible if he’d suggested to ‘go Dutch darling’ – would Romeo have asked Juliet to grab him a diet coke and medium popcorn from the food booth at the cinema? – Would Heathcliff have left Cathy’s bedroom window locked to save on the central heating bill? – I should think not. Ok, so maybe this is a slightly traditional view (feminists would say the intertextualism mirrors my backward vision) – but researching into the subject more I find myself confronted with the fact that times are changing … So not to be clouded by my own idealist views on traditional romance I asked a number of people what their thoughts on the subject might be…

Equal Society

Ok, so apparently us females have been getting a free ride for far too long! We’ve marched on parliament, thrown ourselves under horses, burnt our bras…we’ve even endorsed the concept of ‘Girl Power’ through 5 overpowering women with ridiculously high shoes! Isn’t it about time we embraced the society our past feminist sisters strove to build for us? Isn’t it about time to went halves on a meal…or even…offered to pay…

A few people thought so (may I add – not only of the male persuasion!)

The Female should always offer

So this one really comes down to etiquette – it is polite to offer – I have even partaken in this act of conventional society myself! The ‘offer’ was a common consideration that popped up amongst the men and women I asked – the question is however – just how genuine is ‘the offer’. A survey of 74,000 online Elle readers named the ‘Money, Sex and Love’ survey found that 57% of women offer to pay the bill. Over half you might say, a generous offering you might think – Wrong. 34% of those 57% would be extremely annoyed if their date actually accepted. This must be terribly confusing for both parties… Ladies just remember to actually bring your purse incase he takes you up on ‘the offer’.

Whoever asked should pay

This one seems quite simple – whoever instigated the event of a first date should pay, regardless of gender. This seems to make sense – surely the instigator is most likely to take on the role of the impresser and treat their date by footing the bill at the end of the evening?

I’m torn. Is this the death of romance? Or are we just embracing modernity? Go on…what do you think??? Comments welcome below.

Ok, so we’ve looked into ways to make your dates more interesting in terms of where to go – and I must say, we would be extremely interested to hear if any of you pursued our celebrity fantasy dates from last week’s blog (especially Hugh Jackman’s midnight dip!) When it comes down to it however, it’s not just about where you go…it’s about the technique! In a nutshell you can split the classic behavioural dating elements you will encounter into 4 categories – cool and confident, horribly over confident, shy, yet endearing or a complete bag of nerves. These are all general things that you come to expect if you have been playing the dating game for a while…sometimes however, the unexpected and strange tends to crop up…

We asked the team what strange dating techniques they had encountered! (Names have been removed to protect identities and hence forth everlasting embarrassment!)

The Orange Wednesday Saga

So I went on a date with this guy I had met and he suggested we go to the cinema. Looking forward to a night of popcorn munching and film watching, I rolled up to the venue to meet my rather hansom date. As we got to the counter to pay –being a modern woman I was prepared to go dutch. As I went to remove purse from bag, a rather excitable screech of ‘WAIT!! Let’s get the orange Wednesday 2 for 1 code!!!’ arose from my date’s mouth. So I paid for my full price ticket…and he (the lucky man) watched the film absolutely free. A tenner and a text down…I have to say, it was the strangest dating technique I’ve ever encountered – and no… I didn’t see him again!

Steam Train Passion

I went to meet up for a drink with this really interesting guy I had met. To me, he was the epitome of coolness – he had loads of friends, played football, was confident – he was just one of those guys that oozed smoothness! As we chatted away to a few drinks, he decided to tell me about his great passion in life…steam trains. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m interested by other people’s interests…but he was overly passionate about this hobby…to the point one might call obsession. Not a technique I would use – quirky’s good – but not when it makes the other party feel slightly over uncomfortable…

Dinner Disaster

I took a girl out for dinner to a local Indian restaurant. The evening got off to a good start as we shared a bit of banter over a plate of poppadoms. The conversation and wine flowed and if I didn’t say so myself – it was pretty obvious she found me charming!Half way through the evening, out of nowhere, she put her cutlery down on her plate and sat there staring at it. Nothing offensive or out of the ordinary (to my knowledge) had happened to make her suddenly stop eating…she then asked me to take her home mid meal (not in a good way) and that was that!

Strange thing was she called me the next day to see when we could do it again…Odd, odd technique!

Go on…we’d love to know if you can top the above!
