We all want to let other Members see just how good we look, so we thought we’d refresh everyone’s memories as to what makes a good photo to accompany your profile. As we all know a good photo can increase your chances of attracting other Members but a bad photo could put them off altogether, so it’s an important choice when you come to selecting which of your holiday snaps to use to best show you off.
So here are our top five tips for choosing a good photo:
Up close and personal.
It’s best to give your admirers a good view of your face in your main photo, rather than a full-length body shot. Full Members can add as many pictures as they like so there’s plenty of opportunity to show that picture of you hand-gliding in Cyprus elsewhere!
Avoid group shots.
Avoid pictures with other people in them (especially your ex with their face blocked out in biro!). It’s very simple to crop images so try and make sure that at least your main photo contains only you. This will avoid both confusion as to who you are and also the self-esteem-destroying ‘who’s your friend?’ question!!!
Crop and Rotate.
If you submit a picture on it’s side it will appear on your profile on it’s side. And if you submit a passport photo in the corner of the scanner then once it has been resized to fit on your profile you will barely be able to see your face. These photos will not be approved so if you’re having trouble editing your images ask the Support Team for some assistance.
Cheer up!!!
As we’ve already said, a bad photo could put people off completely and there’s nothing more off-putting than a miserable face staring back from a profile photo. Pick a pic with a smile in it and people will find you much more approachable meaning that you’ll get a lot more messages.
Get it right.
If you don’t have a picture that fits the bill then take one specially. Either turn the camera on yourself or get a friend to snap you, or if you can’t do that then passport booths give perfectly good results – just make sure you’re smiling!
Don’t forget that if you’re having trouble submitting your pic for approval you can get in touch with the Support Team for some friendly help and advice.
And if you still can’t upload the image directly from your PC (if you don’t have a digital camera or a scanner) then you can send your prints to us and we’ll scan and add them for you. Just make sure you write your User ID on the back so that we know which profile to add it to, and then stick it in the post to

Good luck with finding a great photo to be your ‘face’ on the site. Maybe you already have the ideal picture just waiting to be added, so why not and upload it straight away?
